Grace in the Space
New Year’s resolutions have always been an important part of my life- lose some weight, eat healthier, drink more water, pray more, be more patient and the list went on. This year I decided to try a different approach. I am going to make space in my life for the grace God bestows. I am focusing on ways to allow myself to reflect on spacious time for listening to God thus listening less to the voices of the world. Spacious time for me exists in music that lifts my spirit and encourages me to smile and dance. For me, spacious time is reflecting on scripture and inspirational reading, quenching my thirst; creative time in writing and drawing, so I can explore deep into my source; relationship time with family, friends and community, nurturing love and compassion and uniting myself with nature, feeling the rhythm of life. All of these spacious time encounters invite God to touch and embrace me with grace. Spacious time experiences are a unique self journey. What is constant is God‘s willingness to join us in these precious opportunities. As with every New Year’s resolution, I slip and slide but I know I can turn to the space where God can intervene and whisper words of love and encouragement. I am hopeful as I place my trust in God, that a slower, gentler, kinder side of me can emerge.
Psalm 98 – “ all the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.” Allow yourself the gift of space to relish in God’s powerful, loving grace.
