Lenten Prayer

I woke up early today and struggled with memories and thoughts which should be on the cross. Then the Holy Spirit brought to my mind an observation about my family and so I interceded on their behalf to pray for forgiveness; and then asked for a restraining order against evil … so that their eyes could be opened to see the truth of Gods call in their lives.
Lord, I see that the battle is constant. The old ways and lies that want to drag me down to death are always trying to drag me down. May you strengthen my arms so that they will always be lifted up to you (like Moses) so that you can win the battle for me (exodus 17:1ff)
Lord, you are so good and you give your children good gifts …. you are so merciful and gracious … you are so holy and you share your holiness with your children. We add nothing to your greatness and yet from the riches of your love you share eternal life so that we, too, would live and not die.
I see how there is no room for boasting before you …. for what talent do I have that you did not give me … what wisdom do I have that you did not teach me … what goodness do I have that you did not put in me … what love do I have that you did not pour into me …. what charitable acts do I have that you did not do through me?
I also see that there is no room for complaint. You have made me perfectly to accomplish that which you sent me to do. I am not designed to do what you did not send me to do. Even my weakness is given for a purpose that you alone knew. So how can I complain to you about what I don’t have.
Lord as I struggle to give you my heart and soul and body I see so many people that are broken in this fallen world. So many people that are trying to find their way and really don’t know you. It seems to me that I have so little influence on them that I wonder how you can possibly save them (I don’t see evidence that they know, or are seeking you). I realize that our society has allowed the evil of atheism and false religion to confuse and obscure the truth about you. But Lord what can be done? Will you delay no further and pour out your Spirit one more grand time and usher in the age of your glory upon the earth, so that people can be saved and not lost for ever?
LORD JESUS HELP!
And finally I listen and you speak … “You will see that every prayer that you have offered unselfishly for the welfare of others will be answered and I will leave no stone unturned in my efforts to save as many as possible. Do not look at the magnitude of the problem for you cannot see the hearts of man clearly. Follow the Holy Spirit and do not concern yourself except to pray.”
