Spring is a Miracle

Spring is a Miracle

Spring is a Miracle

Spring’s arrival can be swift or slow in coming. However, it always delivers a season of glory. The pussy willows pop their heads in greeting, early spring flowers grace the landscape, patches of green grass appear and the brilliant blue sky all add color to our rather grey world. As the sun sparkles in the air, it filters through my windows and that is when the dust and grime make their appearance. Spring cleaning tasks loom before me – didn’t I do this last year? I am sure I did, so where has all of this dust and grime come from? Daily living….An interesting metaphor – it is again time to tackle my spiritual spring cleaning. What dust and grime is smudging my life so I have trouble “seeing clearly”. As I revel in the beauty and freedom of spring, it is also time to notice areas in my life that need cleansing.

Lent paved the way and allowed amazing encounters with God. Many questions and insights now need to be revisited. Am I nourishing the hope of the Risen Lord in my life just as the spring melt nourishes the roots of creation? Am I examining uncomfortable experiences in my family and in the world, holding them in tension, breathing in God’s grace then offering them into God’s mercy and love? Can I extend my spring cleaning, both spiritual as well as environmental to become an everyday occurrence so I do not get bogged down and discouraged? Am I allowing God’s grace to sift through the dust and grime in my life so I can experience the miracle of God’s love?

“Where there is great love, there are always miracles.” Willa Cather

Happy spring cleaning so you can celebrate the miracles God offers to us!
