The spring breakup on the Mackenzie and Liard rivers has caused historic and devastating levels of flooding in several communities. Particularly hard hit has been Fort Simpson where over 700 people have been evacuated, and Jean Marie River which was completely inundated by the river waters. While grateful that there has been no loss of life, the property loss and the trauma caused by dislocation and anxiety is incalculable.
We are accepting donations to assist the victims. Please place your donation in a separate envelope with your name & address and indicate that it is for flood victims in the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith. You may also donate online here.
If you any questions, please call Paulette at the Archdiocesan office, 780-532-9766.
Development and Peace is concerned about the COVID emergency which has developed in India. Please consider donating to the COVID Emergency Fund which has been set up by Development and Peace to help the Indian people. Go to www.devp.org

We are entering phase 2 of the Archbishops Glass Door Project that we began last year and we need your help. Some of you may remember receiving a phone call or making phone calls about a year ago in phase 1 of this project. We contacted approximately 1000 parishioners but still have many to contact and we need your help. We are all feeling a little more disconnected during these times and we want to connect with as many of our parishioners as possible. Please contact Joanne at the parish office (780-532-2351 or sjc-finance@gpcsd.ca) if you are interested in helping with this Ministry.
The biblical story of redemption that we meditate on during Lent and the Easter season displays the truth of an unfathomable love that is good beyond human understanding, and a God who looks at us with loving eyes and says keep going … because, no matter how bad things look, the best is yet to come.
As I reflect on my journey this Lent and Easter I am stunned by the mercy of God and the paradox of faith. We are reminded at the beginning of Lent that Jesus came out of the waters of baptism and the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit came down to remain on him. The voice of God said “this is my beloved … In him I am well pleased.”
