Dear Parishioners,

This week is the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time. We hope that if you were unable to register to attend public mass that you are able to join us for our live streamed mass at 10 AM. **Please be aware that due to COVID-19, Archbishop Gerard has given dispensation for all Sunday obligations. This means you are not obligated to attend mass, and we will continue to live-stream Sunday mass on our Facebook page until the dispensation has been lifted.

DAY OF REMEMBRANCE- Each year during the month of November we remember and pray for those who have passed away. On Monday, November 2 we will remember in a special way those who passed away in the past year. The church will be open on November 2 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. You may arrive at any time for a short time of private or family prayer. If you have an immediate family member (spouse, parent, sibling or child) who died in the past year (even if not from our parish), we invite you call the parish office (780-532-2351) before Wednesday, October 28 so that we can include their name on our list and prepare a candle in memory of your loved one.

Mandatory Mask Bylaw
Please be informed that in compliance with the City of Grande Prairie and Bylaw C-1426, we will now have mandatory masks upon entering our St. Joseph Parish building. This requirement extends to mass times, meaning all attendees, volunteers, staff and clergy are required to wear masks at all times, with the exception of our regular COVID-19 procedure for communion, and certain roles during the liturgy. At this time we ask that if you have a medical or other reason for not wearing a mask that you please inform one of our priests upon entry, and we may ask you to provide a doctor’s note. We thank you for respecting this new bylaw, and look forward to continuing to see you here at St. Joseph Church.

All are invited to join us via Zoom for our Faith Daze Adult Faith formation session on November 4th at 7pm; this month’s theme on “Holding Grief.” Please register on Eventbrite to receive access to the Zoom meeting.

Archbishop’s Dinner.  For the past several years, each deanery, in turn, would host an Archbishop’s Dinner.  The chancery staff has come up with a way of having an Archbishop’s Dinner online.  It will be a live-streamed cooking show that everyone in the archdiocese can access this. In exchange for a free-will offering, I will send you a copy of my recipe. There will be a silent auction on-line throughout that day. This will take place on Friday November 6th, 2020.  Livestream will be viewable at www.archgm.ca  or on Facebook at: facebook.com/ArchGrouardMcLennan

We are happy to announce that the parish gift shop is now open and available for visitors. Come check out the various Catholic goods, such as rosaries, bibles, medals, books, statues, pictures, and more! It is a hidden gem, right in the Narthex of our church. Hours are Tuesdays after the 7pm mass, and Wednesdays after the 12:15pm mass.

Another reminder that we have changed the entrance to the church to be through the admin/hall entrance of the building (the doors to the south of the Bell Tower).  This is especially important as it gets colder outside.  We cannot expect people to stand outside while waiting to go through the screening process.

Left are dates for Adoration for the next few months.  We begin Adoration at 7:00 P.M. and finish at about 7:45 P.M.  We no longer have Mass connected with Adoration.

We would like to continue to invite you to join us for Reconciliation from 1-2 pm on Fridays (no-sign-up-necessary).

We encourage you to continue using our new method of signing up online and also a kind reminder that your spiritual home still needs your support- find out more on how to donate online.
